GUILBERT AND KATE: A COLLABORATION

Kate and Guilbert’s research -

“While I was writing a thesis for what seemed like months Guilbert, my cat, would enter the room and greet me and, such was my concentration, he would be completely ignored. Yet he persisted all the time it took me to finish. This tenacity made me wonder at and wonder about the human relationship with other species. I deliberated about the extent that domesticated cats could relate to humans and even empathize. Then I read that cats retained more than any other domesticated animal the basic nature of their wild ancestors. So why did they consent to playing with humans? These initial concerns led to the following photographic project.” Read Kate’s paper here.
